Gaziantep

Gaziantep, in the South-eastern Anatolia region, is a historical trade and cultural centre, with an export-oriented economy and well-known gastronomic history. The city joined EBRD Green Cities in 2021.

Home to 2.1 million inhabitants including the largest Syrian population in Türkiye, the municipality will explore with EBRD the opportunity to invest in a solar project to produce electricity for the City’s own consumption. Developing a Green City Action Plan will allow Gazantiep to devise a step-by-step investment plan that will climate-proof essential services such as solid waste, water, wastewater, street lighting, energy supply and transport.
