LAUNCH EVENT FOR THE VILNIUS GREEN CITY ACTION PLAN
Date: 1 February 2024
Time: 9.00 – 15.40 local time
Location: Vilnius
Language: Lithuanian and English, with interpretation to and from both languages
On Thursday 1 February 2024, the City of Vilnius will host a project kick-off meeting and launch event for the development of its Green City Action Plan (GCAP). After opening speeches, an overview of the GCAP process and the Warsaw GCAP testimonial experience, roundtable discussions will provide participants with an opportunity to share their thoughts on the key environmental challenges affecting the city.
Immediately after the launch event, the first stakeholder engagement meeting will also be held – involving local and regional level professional associations, institutes, city-owned companies and city representatives.
The City of Vilnius expressed its commitment to develop a GCAP by joining the Green Cities programme in 2023. The aim of the programme is to support cities’ transition to a green, low-carbon and resilient future through identifying priority investments and policy actions. The GCAP will act as a tool to attract funding for long-term sustainable urban development, supporting public and private entities. The actions identified will seek to address the most pressing environmental challenges and climate change risks.
The GCAP development is supported by the EBRD in cooperation with Arup. The GCAP is funded by TaiwanBusiness - EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund (TWTC) in support of the Bank’s Green Economy Transition (GET) Project Preparation and Implementation.
