By joining EBRD Green Cities in April 2022, the District will prioritise local environmental challenges, and propose measures to address them. The Green City Action Plan will define a green vision for the District, including actions and potential investments such as construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, reconstruction of electricity sub-stations, improvement of urban transport, and climate-proofing of local infrastructure.

The GCAP development will be accompanied by an inclusive stakeholder engagement. The GCAP trigger project - rehabilitation of the water supply pipeline and networks infrastructure - will improve the quality, safety, efficiency and reliability of the drinking water supply for 65,000 people, while reducing water losses and greenhouse gas emissions.
