Yerevan, Armenia’s ancient capital city, joined EBRD Green Cities in August 2016, finalizing its GCAP in October 2017. The GCAP highlighted environmental challenges surrounding air quality, biodiversity, transport infrastructure and energy efficiency.
To address these challenges, the GCAP set out a 2030 vision that includes improving air-quality policy and monitoring, establishing a ‘Green City Awareness Centre’, implementing a new bus network model, upgrading electric public transport and developing road infrastructure, introducing energy management in municipal institutions, and investment in renewable energy.
Yerevan has since begun work on a number of investments and policy initiatives recommended under the GCAP to enact its green vision.
Yerevan GCAP was generously funded by the Government of Czech Republic.
